Groovy Lab Moon Dance
Engineering design challenge - a lesson in optics and the moon
You are a groovy optical engineer who has been contracted by NASA's jet propulsion laboratory. Using the materials from your groovy lab in a box, can you design and build a two-lens telescope that can expand and contract while you make observations of the night sky? Investigate moons, gravity, moon phases, lunar eclipses, craters, tides, lenses, and telescopes.
Groovy Lab in a Box creates hands-on STEM projects for children ages 8 and up • Founded by two female science professionals turned educators
Each kit contains all materials needed to complete the box activities • A 20+ custom-designed, subject- specific Lab Notebook • Access to our Beyond...in a Box web portal for extended learning opportunities and additional activities • An Engineering Design Challenge – the culmination of the children’s learning
Utilizes the Engineering Design Process and inquiry-based learning • Incorporates Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) • Focuses on teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) • Brings the FUN back into learning
Eco-Friendly In Every Box, Lab Notebooks and Groovy boxes are 100% recyclable and biodegradable • Groovy boxes are made with 100% recycled content with post-industrial and post-consumer waste • Eco-friendly supplies included for investigations and Engineering Design Challenge • Teach about being eco-friendly and encourage STEMists to upcycle materials in investigations
